Overview
Accountant
Astria Learning is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to oversee the financial operations of our regional office(s). Reporting to the Regional Director, you will play a central role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and supporting strategic financial planning. What you'll do
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations for the regional office(s)
- Process and oversee staff payroll accurately and on schedule
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Monitor client payment status and manage accounts receivable
- Track office expenditure and produce detailed budget and expense reports
- Produce core financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and submit all statutory filings on time
- Conduct financial performance analysis and submit quarterly KPI reports to the Regional Director
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
- Coordinate with external auditors and uphold adherence to internal financial policies

What we're looking for
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- At least 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Demonstrated experience managing payroll and financial reporting across multiple countries
- Strong working knowledge of financial regulations in Zambia and Malawi
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and organisational skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders

- Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- Experience working within an education, non-profit, or technology-driven organisation
- Familiarity with multi-currency financial management
- Experience supporting or liaising with international audit processes
