Admissions Counselor

Astria Learning partners with universities across sub-Saharan Africa — including UNIMA, CBU, UNZA, and LUANAR — to deliver accessible, high-quality higher education. We are looking for a motivated and empathetic Admissions Counselor to join our remote Admissions team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for prospective students, guiding them from initial inquiry through to enrollment and helping them take a meaningful step toward their academic goals.

What you'll do

Prospective student engagement

  • Conduct daily outreach to prospective students via phone, WhatsApp, and email, introducing programs and encouraging applications.
  • Deliver clear, accurate, and compelling information about academic offerings, enrollment timelines, and financial requirements.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to all inquiries with a supportive, solution-oriented approach.

Application processing

  • Guide applicants through completing required forms and submitting supporting documentation.
  • Review submissions for completeness, flag missing information, and communicate next steps clearly.
  • Assess initial eligibility and keep applicants informed throughout the review process.

Counseling and support

  • Provide personalized guidance throughout each applicant's admissions journey, addressing individual concerns at every stage.
  • Clarify program structures, fee schedules, deadlines, and enrollment expectations in a straightforward and supportive manner.

Fee and deposit collection

  • Explain payment procedures for enrollment fees and deposits clearly and transparently.
  • Follow up consistently to facilitate timely payments and coordinate with the Finance team to confirm completion and escalate any issues.

Follow-up and relationship management

  • Maintain proactive, structured follow-up communication with every assigned lead.
  • Apply relationship-nurturing techniques to build trust, improve engagement, and increase lead-to-enrollment conversion rates.

Data entry and reporting

  • Record all student interactions, application status updates, and payment confirmations accurately in the CRM.
  • Submit regular progress reports on lead status, payment tracking, and enrollment outcomes to the Senior Admissions Counselor.

What we're looking for

  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Education, or a related field — preferred but not required in lieu of equivalent experience.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in telesales, a call center, or a customer-facing service role.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to handle objections and build rapport over the phone and via messaging platforms.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Zoho, Salesforce) and communication platforms such as WhatsApp and ManyChat.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple leads and follow-ups simultaneously.
  • A goal-driven, detail-oriented mindset and a genuine commitment to student success.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote, fast-paced environment, including flexible hours to support students across different time zones.
  • High ethical standards and a strong respect for student data privacy.

---

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in admissions, student recruitment, or educational services.
  • Familiarity with the higher education landscape in Ghana and the broader sub-Saharan Africa region.
  • Experience working with multilingual or multicultural student populations.
